Common use

Modalert is a medicine that helps manage daytime sleeping issues and improves wakefulness. It is used to reduce extreme sleepiness and increase alertness during the day. This medicine is often prescribed for conditions such as narcolepsy, sleep apnea, and shift work sleep disorders. Narcolepsy is a chronic neurological disorder that affects the brain's ability to control sleep-wake cycles. People with narcolepsy may feel rested after waking, but then feel very sleepy throughout much of the day.

Dosage and direction

Take the Modalert orally, with or without food. Follow the instructions provided by your doctor or pharmacist carefully. If you have any doubts or concerns about its use, consult your doctor for specific advice.

Precautions

Significant hepatic disease: If you have significant liver disease, the dosage of the Modalert should be reduced to half to avoid serious side effects.
Diabetes: Use caution when using Modalert if you have diabetes, as it may affect your blood sugar levels.
Heart diseases: The Modalert should be used with caution if you have a history of heart diseases, as it may cause excessive drowsiness and shallow breathing.
Bleeding disorders: If you have a bleeding disorder, consult your doctor before taking Modalert.
Elderly people: Use caution when using Modalert in elderly patients, as they may experience excessive drowsiness and impaired wakefulness.

Contraindications

Modalert is contraindicated in individuals with known hypersensitivity or allergic reactions to the Modafinil or any of its components.
It is also not suggested for those with a history of left ventricular hypertrophy (an abnormal thickening of the heart muscle).

Side effects of Modalert: Headache; Nausea; Anxiety; Insomnia; Dizziness.

Drug interaction

Modalert may interact with certain types of medications, such as antidepressants (fluoxetine and sertraline), medications used to treat Parkinson's disease (pramipexole), and certain antifungals (such as ketoconazole and itraconazole). Always inform your doctor about any other medications you are currently taking to avoid potential interactions.

Missed dose

If you forget to take your regular dose of Modalert, take it as soon as you remember. If it's almost time for your next scheduled dose, skip the missed one and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Never increase your dosage without consulting your doctor.

Overdose

Taking too much Modalert can lead to serious side effects such as increased heart rate, high blood pressure, and anxiety. If you or someone else accidentally takes too much, seek immediate medical attention.

Storage

Store the Modalert in a tightly closed container at room temperature. Keep it away from heat, moisture, and direct sunlight to maintain its effectiveness. Ensure that children cannot access the medicine by storing it in a secure location. Use Modalert before the expiration date.
